What I'm wearing : Urban Planet Faux Fur Vest. H&M Blouse. Smart Set Skirt. Avon Booties. Forever 21 Bag.  Forever 21 Bracelet. Urban Planet Necklace.

The faux fur vest is another fall favourite of mine. Whether it's paired with skinny jeans and a long sleeve top, a skirt and a blouse, or a dress, it's perfect for adding a bit of glam to any outfit. Unfortunately the fall season here in northern Ontario is much too short for me to fully enjoy it. If I'm lucky, I get a few days of perfect fall weather to enjoy my fur vest without freezing or overheating.

This coat, which I've had for years now, is one of my favourite pieces to wear during the fall season. A trench coat is classic, can be worn with pretty much everything and it can easily be dressed up or down. Definitely a fall staple.

The more I learn about fashion, the more I realize just how important accessories are. They can totally transform an outfit and really bring everything together. I'm really thrilled about this super soft colour block eternity scarf from Bootlegger. Colour blocking is still a huge trend this season and the black and grey colour combo is one of my favourites. The peace bracelet has just the right amount of rhinestones to add a bit of bling to a casual outfit.

Fall is undoubtedly my favourite season and it saddens me to say that we are approaching the end of October, which means the autumn season will soon come to an end over here in northern Ontario. The trees are mostly bare and the beautiful array of colorful fall leaves have begun to disappear. The temperatures have drastically dropped (I saw snow today), but, on a happier note, I will be visiting Brandon in Michigan this coming weekend and I'm really hoping I'll still be able to enjoy some nice fall weather down south. I'm not ready for snow! It's too early!!

Here's a round-up of my favourite fall outfits from last year.

I recently purchased holographic nail polish from the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Collection and I'm officially obsessed. This season, shade-shifting nail polish is a huge trend. Whether they have a shimmery finish or a metallic finish, you'll definitely want to give this trend a try! Over Thanksgiving weekend I wore Lava by Sally Hansen which is, in my opinion, the most holographic shade in the collection. Every time the sunlight hit my nails, I watched with excitement as the shade shifted from pink to orange. Here are a few holographic collections I'm thrilled about at the moment.

This past Monday was Thanksgiving here in Canada. I hope all of my Canadian readers enjoyed the holiday. I normally spend it with family but this year I took advantage of the extra time off from work and spent the weekend with Brandon in Michigan.

We wanted to do something fun so we had a mini vacay in Frankenmuth. I've visited this quaint little Bavarian town three times now and I still love it just as much as the first time. We stayed at our favourite place, Midtown Bed & Breakfast. If you're planning on going to Frankenmuth and like Bed & Breakfasts, you definitely want to give this place a try.

Other than strolling up and down Main Street (with my favourite person) and enjoying the scenery, my top three favourite things are . . . Frankenmuth Fudge, Chocolate Wine and Diane's delicious breakfast at Midtown Bed & Breakfast.

Fall Trend ~ Leather Sleeves

Leather sleeves are back again this fall season and I'm extremely thrilled. It's perfect for adding some interest to an otherwise boring top, dress or jacket. I fell in love with this trend last year but, after countless hours spent searching for the perfect black blazer with faux leather sleeves, only to come up empty handed, I gave up. This year, retailers are offering a huge variety of mixed media tops. Leather sleeves are being spotted on blazers, jackets and coats, dresses, long sleeve and short sleeve shirts and sweaters. I won't have difficulty finding that perfect blazer with faux leather sleeves this season! :)

Ricki's Mixed Media Trench ~ $129.50

H&M Coat ~ $59.95
Smart Set T-Shirt ~ $29.00
Bootlegger Guess Contrast Sweater ~ $79.00
Aritzia Babaton Fred Blazer ~ $265.00
Smart Set T-Shirt ~ $35.00
Club Monaco Jillian Printed Dress ~ $249.00

I'm absolutely smitten with this fit-and-flare skirt from Smart Set. When I tried it on in the store a few weeks ago, I stepped out from the dressing room to show Mum and Brandon, glanced in the mirror, swayed side to side and smiled as I watched the ruffles move. I knew I was in love! What I love the most about the fit and flare silhouette is how feminine and flirty it is. It's also very versatile. It can be worn with a tucked in blouse and a blazer, or a cami and cardigan, a fur vest, or with a chunky sweater and tall boots. I've been pairing skirts with sweaters a lot lately. It's a popular trend at the moment.

For an everyday look, thigh grazing skirts can be a bit too sexy. I normally wear tights during the fall and winter months which is the perfect solution, but the weather has been a bit too warm for that lately. The trick to pulling off a short skirt and bare legs without looking too sexy is making sure you are covered on top.

Fall Trend ~ The Flippy Mini

A major trend this fall season is the fit-and-flare mini skirt. I love wearing skirts. Especially when they are as flirty and feminine as these. They are super versatile, can easily be dressed up or down, and worn with layers during the colder winter months. Definitely a wardrobe staple.

Here are a few "flippy minis" I'm currently thrilled about :

Club Monaco Paola Crepe Ruffle Skirt ~ $149.50
Ricki's Flounce Hem Pleather Skirt ~ $49.50
Banana Republic Fluted Shine Skirt ~ $124.00
French Connection Pop Dot Flared Skirt ~ $118.00
Zara Pencil Skirt With Ruffle ~ $59.90
Smart Set Miniskirt With Ruffles ~ $19.99

Fall Trend ~ Brown Nail Polish

Keeping with the brown theme this week, here's a list of brown nail polish shades that I'm currently thrilled about. Brown manis are great for the fall season and there's such a huge variety to choose from. Whether you prefer dark chocolate, milk chocolate, tan or taupe, there's something out there for everyone. In this week's outfit post (click here to see), I wore a really nice brown copper shade by OPI called Warm and Fozzie which is from the 2011 Holiday Muppets Collection. It's definitely at the top of my list of favorite nail colors for fall.

Black and brown is one of my favorite color combos for fall. I've read and heard countless times that this combo is against the rules but, some fashion rules (especially this one) are meant to be broken. This super soft suede-like brown skirt is perfect for fall and luckily the weather has been warm enough for bare legs and short sleeve tops. I added the leopard scarf for a bit of cozy warmth.

What I'm wearing : Suzy Shier Top. Forever 21 Skirt. JustFab Shoes. Le Chateau Bag.

The transition from summer to fall can be a little tricky at times. Throughout most of September, the weather was a bit too warm during the day for chunky layers and jackets, and a bit too cool for tank tops and thin sheer blouses. Sometimes all you need to solve this little "in between seasons" issue is a lightweight scarf to keep you comfortably cozy. A scarf is one of my favorite accessories. They can completely transform an outfit and they are also super versatile. Definitely a "summer to fall" staple. Lightweight scarves are also great for those warmer winter days. I'm not exactly looking forward to cooler temperatures but I AM looking forward to wearing more layers in the coming months.

Here's a list of lightweight scarves that I'm currently thrilled about :

H&M Patterned Scarf ~ $14.95
Banana Republic Animal Print Scarf ~ $74.00
H&M Lip Print Scarf ~ $14.95
Forever 21 Retro Polka Dot Scarf ~ $12.80
Reitmans Striped Scarf ~  $14.99
Forever 21 Studded Cross Scarf ~ $15.80
H&M Star Print Scarf~ $12.95
Bootlegger Owl Eternity Scarf ~ $19.50
Ricki's Rose Print Scarf ~ $22.50
