Well, it's been two weeks since my last post, which means I better have a lot to write about... right? Where to begin? First of all, Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays as much as I am. There's nothing I love more than good quality time spent with family and friends. I especially love it when my nieces and nephews decide they want to play with my hair. All it takes is for one of them to start and then it seems they all want to join in. I could sit there for hours letting them brush my hair, even if they end up pulling out a few strands.

As I've mentioned before, I love any excuse to get all dressed up, and this month has given me plenty of excuses. The first event was the Kris Kringle dinner with my co-workers which I've already written about (here). The following weekend I attended the Market Mall Pharmacy staff Christmas party with mum as my date. We both had a marvellous time. The food was delicious, and there's something about watching your co-workers drink way too much that is just so amusing. What's not so amusing is having one of those drunk co-workers attempt to dance with a drink in each hand and spill an entire drink down the front of your dress.

Since Christmas was just around the corner, I decided to wear a dress that I already own but never got a chance to wear. As you all know I've been trying to add colour to my wardrobe, and this dress definitely does just that. Draped dresses and ruffles are very big this season and I absolutely love these trends. The shoes are a new addition. I figured since I didn't buy a new dress for the event, I could splurge on a new pair of shoes. OK, I'm sure I already own a perfectly good pair of shoes for this outfit, but where's the fun in that? It could have been worse. I could have purchased a new dress, a new clutch, and new jewellery! So I did good right?

Christmas Eve was spent at my younger brother's house and although my family does dress up nice for the holidays, I was the only one wearing a dress. Actually, my 3 year old niece wore a dress as well so I wasn't entirely alone.

My older brother thought it would be funny to wear an ugly Christmas sweater (which he decorated himself).

I truly do look forward to these family get togethers. Especially when I know there's going to be good food involved. Everyone has their own Christmas traditions and I love knowing how other people spend their holidays. In my family, we get all dressed up, go to church, eat, drink and wait up til midnight to open our gifts.

Christmas Day was spent here at the house. We enjoyed a very good turkey and ham dinner, listened to Christmas music, sat around the dining room table talking, playing cards and having a bunch of laughs. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the holidays.

How do you spend your Christmas?

Well, the weather has been acting crazy this past week. From snow and cold winds, to mild temperatures and rain. We are in December and the snow doesn't seem to want to stay. Not that I'm complaning of course. If it were up to me, I would make the snow appear just for the Christmas holidays, and just as quickly make it disappear for the rest of winter.

I absolutely love the colours brown and grey and I love them even more when they are paired together. A few years ago, I never would have even thought to wear these colours together, but the more I see it on the runway, in magazine ads, and on some of my favourite bloggers, the more I love it.  I say give it a try!!!

Kris Kringle or Secret Santa is something I look forward to every year. I'm sure there are some people who would much rather skip the whole thing, but I love shopping, even when it's not for myself. I guess it can be quite a challenge when you draw the name of a person you don't know very well, but I like a challenge. This past Sunday, my co-workers and I got together at a restaurant, for food, drinks and a gift exchange. I ate way too much, drank enough wine to make my cheeks rosy, and shared a delicious peanut butter cream pie with my bestest friend Angel. Thank god I wore a flowy dress because by the end of the night, I had a very unattractive (food baby) belly bulge.

Everyone knows I usually like to dress up for these events. I wouldn't be me if I didn't, but this was more of a casual dinner party so...I still wore a dress but a casual one. I purchased this dress near the end of summer and I know what you're thinking. A summer dress during the winter? The floral print is back for the winter season so I added a cardigan, a skinny belt, some tights and voila!! If you're thinking winter is here and it's time to pack away your summer dresses, think again! A bit of summer floral is the perfect thing to brighten your winter days.

Every last Thursday of the month at the Market Mall Pharmacy, which is where I work, we have what we call Seniors Day. This is when all the seniors come in for their 20% discount, and let me tell you, some senior citizens are no picnic. I wish I could really express how I feel when they come in and ask me to help them find Christmas cards for each and every one of their relatives. I'm sure everyone knows as well as I do that picking out the right card for someone can take more than just a few minutes. We offer both the Hallmark cards and those other ones that cost only a dollar. Just imagine my surprise when I have already spent 10 minutes searching for cards only to be told they are too expensive and would prefer the dollar ones. After another 10 minutes spent searching through the dollar ones, I am told they appear too cheap and would prefer the "cheapest" Hallmark ones. Oh joy!

Last Seniors Day, my boss asked me to dress up wearing Artizan clothing to promote the collection, which we carry in our gift shop. Obviously I jumped at the chance of wearing anything other than our oh-so-boring-and-ugly navy blue uniform. I chose to wear this yellow Artizan scarf hoping it might help brighten my day since those seniors have a tendency of ruining my mood. The scarf worked like magic because all day long I received a bunch of compliments which kept me happy and smiling.

It's finally December which means the countdown to Christmas has begun. This year I have decided to put a Christmas tree in my room, and I'm very excited because the ornaments I have picked out have me doing a little happy dance. A booty shakin' happy dance! It's definitely not a traditional Christmas tree but those who know me would say it suits me perfectly. My room is decorated in a black and white theme, so I wanted to add a little bit of colour but I wanted to do something other than the traditional Christmas colours. And yes those are tiny shoe ornaments, and purse ornaments! I'm such a girl!

Although the animal print trend has been around for many seasons, I've been seeing spots everywhere I go and I couldn't be more thrilled. Animal print is a classic trend that will never go out of style, and because it ranges from dresses and tops, to shoes and scarves, to belts and jewelery, there is something out there for everyone. There's even something for those who are obsessed with nail polish like me. The Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips in Kitty Kitty can be quite fun (if you have alot of patience).

My idea of a perfect birthday is eating until it looks like I have a baby, a FOOD baby, (so not attractive...I know), cake of course, a few drinks and laughing with friends and family until our bellies hurt! Saturday night was my official birthday party. We started with dinner at Gliss, which is one of my favourite local restaurants, and then back to my house for pomegranate martinis, beer, shots, jalapeno poppers, artichoke cheese dip and bacon wrapped shrimp. Yum yum!

Sisterly Love
Onto the outfit. I chose to wear this royal blue dress for the simple fact that there's something about chiffon that makes me feel so feminine and pretty, and who wouldn't want to feel pretty at her own party? What I love the most about this dress is the pleat details on the front and the sheer back which adds just the right amount of sexiness.

It's officially my birthday, and these are the last pictures taken of me at 25 years old. As I take a moment to reflect upon the past year, as I do every year on my birthday, I realize that life is all about experiences and special moments that touch your heart forever. Like when my 3 year old niece climbs up onto my lap, pushes my bangs aside with her tiny little hands, tells me that I'm beautiful, gently kisses my cheek and tells me that she loves me. The best birthday gift an auntie could get.

Last night, my brother and his family had me over for a birthday dinner, and I could not think of a better way to start off my birthday celebrations. My sister in law Tania knows that the best birthday gift she could ever give me is some of her yummy cooking, and of course a yummy cake decorated with a big shoe on the top.

This is the outfit I wore that evening. My brother, who likes to tease me every chance he gets, commented by saying "what kind of jacket is that?". I pretended not to hear him of course. I have learned that talking to him about fashion is truly just a waste of time. Oh how I love having a big brother.

I fell in love with this cape style jacket the moment I saw it. I've been searching for a camel jacket and this one had that little extra something I was looking for.

Mum and I decorated the Christmas tree last night, meaning she did all of the hard work by dragging everything out from the attic while I did the fun stuff and hung the ornaments as she passed them to me. Every year around this time, she takes out all of those old pictures of my siblings and I sitting on Santa's lap. Of course, she wasn't satisfied with their original size and had them all blown up so that everyone could see how cute we were. Oh how I love Christmas.

Now on to the outfit. The other day, as I was taking out all of my fall and winter clothes, I realized that I own alot of black. Have any of you ever gone through an all black wearing phase? I certainly have! There are so many beautiful colours out there, so this season I have decided to add alot more colour to my wardrobe. Deep green is a colour I don't wear very often, and it's actually a great alternative to black. The military inspired jacket is a Christmas gift from last year. The green layered top and the white sweater are both from last year's winter season but the boots are a new addition, and let me tell you, it was love at first sight.

As I opened my eyes this morning, the first thing I thought of, as I do on all of my days off, was what to have for dinner. Yes, it's true, I do wake up thinking of food, and today it was my sister in law Tammy's delicious pasta sauce that popped into my head. Was it just a coincidence that she happened to call me today to invite me and mum over? It always tastes so much better when someone else makes it.

As I finally got out of bed and glanced out my bedroom window, all I saw was white snow everywhere! The first snowfall always looks so pretty, like a winter wonderland. When I have to start brushing the snow off my car, and start shoveling the driveway, I will probably regret ever saying it was pretty. My dog Spencer didn't seem too fond of it, as he slowly tip toed out unto the deck this morning.  It was quite funny actually, how a big black Labrador could be such a big baby sometimes.

On to the outfit. Sequins, metallics, and glitter are very big at the moment and I honestly couldn't be more thrilled. They seem to go hand in hand with the winter holidays. Sparkly tops, sparkly dresses, sparkly jackets, sparkly shoes, oh and sparkly nails of course. Also, I'm really loving all the gold accessories lately. Actually, it's all I seem to be buying these days. I'm obsessed!

Fall is my favourite season when it comes to fashion and I tend to shop alot more than usual if that's even possible. With Christmas just around the corner I really should be a little more wise with my money, and in an attemp to do so, I have purchased a little piggy bank, or in this case a shoe bank. Ok I know what you're thinking. I just finished stating that I need to save money and here I am wasting my money on a silly shoe. It truly does bring a smile to my face everytime I glance at it though, and who knows, it might actually help me save.

Now as I was saying, fall is my favourite season and I believe it's the colours that make me fall in love over and over again. One colour in particular keeps popping up everywhere I go. The colour Mustard. Normally I wouldn't even dare, but this year I have decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try. I fell in love with this dress from Forever 21 the second I saw it.

Ok, so this blog is supposed to be a personal style diary and I have yet to post any outfits. Who knew this shy and quiet girl who blushes so easily and so frequently, would be so insecure about posting pictures of herself on the internet. Hmmm...

One of my favourite trends of the moment is the blouse. It is my new obsession and I can't seem to stop myself from purchasing one everywhere I go. Mum (my fav shopping companion) thinks I am crazy and doesn't understand why a girl would ever need 20 different blouses in her closet. "Oh but mum, this one is a different colour, and that one has big puffy sleeves, and that one is sheer, oh and this one ties at the neck, and that one has polka dots on it" I say to her with a big smile as she gives me that (you're crazy but ok I will go along with this) kind of look.

Whether it's sheer, silky, flowy, fitted, ties at the neck or buttons up, they are all extremely easy to dress up or dress down. Either tucked into a skirt or high waist trousers, or paired with jeans and a vest, the blouse is a must have for fall.
